Hi,
I have a Miguel Cairo game used bat that has "LOUISVILLE SLUGGER" underneath his block-lettered name on the barrel. Because Cairo started his MLB career in 1996 and played with the Cardinals in 2001-03, I would expect it to say "ST. LOUIS CARDINALS" instead of "LOUISVILLE SLUGGER" (the latter labeling ceased in 1989). Any ideas on why there is no team name on the bat?
Some more detail:
Cairo started the 2001 season with the Cubs, and then came picked up on waivers by the Cardinals that same season. On the knob of the bat is written 40 (his jersey # with the Cubs), but the "0" is written over with a "1", making it a 41 (his jersey # with the Cardinals). Could the team change have anything to do with it?
Finally, I have an undated Cardinals COA that came with the bat, attesting that it is a legitimate bat used by Cairo himself.
Thanks for your help!

Cairo did play quite a few games in 2001 for the Cubs' AAA team in Iowa -- if the order was placed by the Iowa equipment manager, then the bat very well could have LOUISVILLE SLUGGER under his name. Some teams have policies that minor league bats cannot have the MLB team name on them, so minor league bats resemble pro bats form the 1986-89 era. An early 2001 bat would have the MLB logo on the front of the barrel; if the MLB logo is on the back, then the bat was made after the season started. If there is no MLB logo at all, then it's definitely a minor league issue that he took to the majors with him.

Thank you! There is no MLB logo on the bat, so it must be a minor league issue.
